Today I took advantage of the fact that it was actually sunny to go to the beach! Specifically, Bondi Beach, located a train and a bus ride away from downtown Sydney. Originally I was going to go with one group, but I couldn’t catch them in time and went by myself instead, only to run in with another group in our program in the train station, who just happened to be going there too! I joined them, and before long we arrived at the beach- in some ways the first “real” beach I’ve been to since I arrived in Australia.
Bondi Beach is a great sight, all told, it stretches out a long way and not only boasts cool water and a comfortable beach, but also an artificial pool out in the distance, though unfortunately they do charge for entrance, which is why I didn’t get to see it for myself. Another unfortunate thing is that there are virtually no shells at the beach to collect- I don’t know why, it is what it is. I did have a lot of fun at the beach, though- my favorite thing was to swim out and jump into approaching waves, the bigger the better. I was the one who was swimming for the most part, as the others mostly hung back and relaxed on the beach, and I was able to get some good swimming in before the others had to leave, and I had to head back to the hotel- but not before getting some good pictures of the beach, of course.
