Not a lot happened today, so I don’t have a lot to talk about, so instead of that, I wanted to take this opportunity to talk about the kinds of wildlife I’ve seen on this trip. Amazingly enough, I’ve seen very few spiders so far in Australia, though if America is to be believed, it literally rains spiders in all parts of Australia. I only saw three on this experience so far, and it was in an abandoned library. In general, though, you don’t see a lot of animals in the city, and Sydney has been where I’ve been spending most of my time.
I have been lucky enough to go to the zoo and the Great Barrier Reef, though, and I got to see kangaroos, koalas, emus, and fish from the Reef, which really was an amazing experience. When I was at the zoo I even got to pet one of the domesticated kangaroos! Granted, he ran off after about ten seconds, but still. Strangely enough, the one kind of animal I haven’t seen at all is a snake, which, again, is probably because we’re in a city, but this is probably for the best because as our tour guide in Cobar pointed out, a lot of them are venomous and pose a threat to tourists stupid enough to go near them.
